I re-designed a new NHL logo every week and competed against my two BFFs for the most votes.
Step 1: Early Design Stage
We posted our designs online every Thursday morning so that fans and friends could vote for their favourite. This meant that we had to have our designs in by Wednesday night each week. Often I would begin on the weekend prior to the Wednesday deadline by sketching a few different designs by hand.
Colour and Design Refinement
Then I would create what I had sketched in Adobe Illustrator. Usually I would make a few different implementations and sit on two or three slightly different designs for a day or so (depending on how much time I had left until Wednesday night!)
Step 2: Testing
I would often test my few iterations by waiting for a few hours before looking at them again or even looking at them from farther away. Finally if I could not decide on one final design, I would elicit the help from others, informally asking them questions about each design. Then I post my final design along with the design of my two friends Austin and Landon onto the basic voting website I set up. (Not currently online because I didn't want to keep paying for hosting. Trying to see if I can get it back up for reasonably cheap).
